RANKRENT THE METHOD, IN PLAIN ENGLISH

The suburb is the ground. The results page is the fence.

When a hot water system dies in Caringbah at 6am, somebody searches, somebody ranks, and somebody gets the job. Rank and rent builds the thing that ranks, then rents it to the tradie who wants the job. Here is the whole method, free, because knowing it and doing it are different sports.

The fence, drawn properly.

A suburb's search results page, read as a sponsor fence. Positions are panels; the top panels get the eyes; the enquiries follow the eyes.

The five moves.

  1. Pick the territory

A suburb plus a trade, chosen on maths, not vibes. What is one job worth to the tradie, how many people search, who already holds the fence, and can you out-build them. Most territories fail this test; the method is mostly saying no until one passes.

  2. Take the domain

An exact-match .com.au says what it does on the tin and starts with a trust advantage imported domains never get. You need an ABN to hold one, and the renewal bill is the cheapest rent you will ever pay on commercial property.

  3. Build the ground

A fast, honest service site: the trade's pages, a page for every suburb that matters, a cost guide people actually want, and a quote journey that respects the visitor. Nothing invented: no fake reviews, no licences you do not hold, no "20 years experience" that belongs to nobody.

  4. Climb the ladder

Search Console and Bing, schema that answers real questions, internal links that make sense, and content that earns the position. Rankings move on weeks and months, not days; the Ledger shows the real timeline as it happens to my own portfolio.

  5. Rent the fence

When enquiries flow, a local tradie rents them: flat monthly rent or per lead, on a plain-English agreement, with the asset staying yours. The tenant gets work without owning marketing; you get rent on a thing you built once.

What goes wrong.

The part the gurus skip. Rank and rent fails in known ways, and every one of them is survivable if you see it coming.

Territories get picked on hope instead of maths. Sites ship with invented claims and get burned by the regulator or by a competitor with a camera. Rankings never come because the trade was too competitive for the budget. Leads flow but the tradie will not pay for them, or pays once and poaches the idea. The forms silently break and a month of enquiries dies in a spam folder.

The method deals with all five, and the course covers the boring guards in detail: compliance sweeps before launch, delivery gates on every form, agreements that survive a handshake going cold. None of it is clever. All of it is the difference between an asset and a hobby.

Straight answers.

Q1What is rank and rent?+

Building a website that ranks in Google for a local service search, then renting the enquiries it generates to a tradie who wants the work. You keep the asset; the tenant gets leads without owning marketing.

Q2Is rank and rent legal in Australia?+

Building and renting websites is an ordinary commercial arrangement. What the law cares about is honesty: no misleading claims on the site, no licences you do not hold, no fake reviews, and clear arrangements with your tenant. Australian Consumer Law applies to the site's content like any other advertising, which is why compliance is a whole module of the course.

Q3How long does it take to rank?+

Months, not days, and nobody honest will promise a date. New domains take weeks just to index. My own portfolio's real timeline is published in the Ledger as it happens, which beats any prediction.

Q4How much does a rank and rent site earn?+

This site will not give you a number, because any number would be invented: it depends on the trade, the suburb, the lead flow and the tenant. My portfolio currently earns zero and says so. When that changes you will read the real figure in the Ledger.
